Belfast Canoe Club are the only club in Northern Ireland currently offering tuition in the Olympic discipline of kayak racing. We are open to all, but our equipment is not generally suitable for children under 10. Our base at Lough Henney is a uniquely suitable venue for learning to paddle racing kayaks.
This is an opportunity to try paddling a fast racing kayak on placid water. An experienced racing coach will explain the differences between the kayaks and paddles used for racing and ‘normal’ kayaks, explain the principles of paddling fast, and provide up to an hour’s coaching on the water. Those interested in getting involved in racing will have the opportunity to race on 24th September and/or join the club.
