These recreational paddles organised by the Canoe Association of Northern Ireland are suitable and open to all! From first time paddlers to competing professionals. We are delighted each year, to see individuals, families, clubs and paddlers of all ages and abilities taking part. These social paddles offer perfect opportunities to get to know other paddlers making them ideal for individuals but also lots of fun for the whole family.
You can take in the views from a water-level perspective and see a wonderful variety of wildlife you wouldn’t normally experience.
A great way to enjoy the outdoors from the water to help improve your health and wellbeing.

We will meet on Wednesday 27th December at Portadown Boat Club on the Bann for a 10am start. The trip plan will be to paddle up the Bann and Newry Canal. Then cross over into the Cusher and paddle down the Cusher, back into the Bann to finish back at Portadown Boat Club for 3pm. The day’s paddle will be relaxed, with a few breaks and pleasant lunch stop in the middle, so please bring a lunch along with you.
All paddles are subject to weather conditions.
The Bann River, Newry Canal and Cusher River offer a really sheltered trip with no shuttle required, which is great for beginners.
